Rewiring of Lighting Circuits

Many properties in our local area were built on or before 1966. At this time electrical installations were installed to the 13th Edition Wiring Regulations. Today we are currently working under the BS7671 17th Edition Regulations. Under the 13th Edition lighting circuits were not required to have an earth wire, as metal light fittings and switches did not exist. On the market today there are thousands of metal lights and switches available. This is why we need an earth cable on lighting circuits. Also the current regulations require an adequate earth cable at every electrical accessory.

We rewire lots of homes which are without earthing on the lighting circuits. Mostly new cabling can be pulled through existing conduit drops. If chasing of walls is required, then our specialised chasing machine and industrial vacuum leaves virtually no dust. So if your house was built before 1966, give us a call. We can carry out a thorough survey and provide a written quote for any works that may be required. A clean safety electrical certificate can then be issued. Your house insurance company will look favourably upon this and it will help with the resale value of your home.
